Alliance For Fire
Research And
Innovations
Welcome to A.F.R.I.
The Alliance for Fire Research and Innovations (AFRI) is a NASA funded collaborative group committed to studying the wide-ranging impacts of forest fires in the Southeast and other Southern Regions, including their atmospheric, ecological, economic, and public safety effects. We strive to translate this knowledge into people-centered solutions that inform policy, guide industry practices, and support community resilience.
Areas of Interest:
- Enhancing existing satellite/modeling products
- Developing new near-real-time satellite and in-situ monitoring
- Integrating monitoring with forecasting systems
- Near-real-time fire behavior modeling and forecasting
- Climate-scale fire risk prediction
- AI/ML-based fire modeling
- Optimizing firefighting operations
- Evaluating prevention and mitigation strategies
